Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said he had directed Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh to investigate how the uniforms of the CRPF martyrs, who died in a Maoist ambush in Sukma, ended up in trash cans outside a hospital where their bodies were autopsied.
"I have got this information just now regarding uniforms of martyrs. I immediately asked the Chhattisgarh CM to investigate in this matter and fix responsibility," Singh told ANI here.
"I believe that memorials should be made in honour of martyred police and army men in all the states. Not only that, their life history and how they sacrificed their life should also be mentioned. This is the ideology of our government," he added.
Meanwhile, the acting Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), RC Tayal assured that appropriate action would be taken against the guilty.
"It is very unfortunate and we are trying to find out how it happened. If somebody in CRPF is found lacking then definitely we are going to take action. It is something that should not have happened. Now, along with the state government, the state police is trying to find out how it happened," said Tayal.
"The DIG officer of Chhattisgarh has been asked to submit the report, which should not take more than a week to come. After that, we will take the action accordingly," he added.
