Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has met the families of victims and representative delegations of tribals at Biswanath Chariali in Assam, and appealed to the people to observe restraint and prevent clashes on ethnic lines.
He also assured them of strong action against the terrorists.
Singh described the killing of tribals in Assam a 'massacre' and added that there would be a time bound action against terror.
He also said the government will not talk to organisations indulging in cold blooded murder.
Singh said External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has spoken to the Government of Bhutan, and the latter has assured action against any terror outfits on its soil.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced Rs. 2 lakhs as compensation to the next of kith and kin of those killed in Assam.

The home minister said that the Centre has already despatched 50 companies of CAPFs to Assam, and paramilitary forces along with the state police and the Army will undertake a coordinated action against the terrorist organizations.
He also said that the Centre has instituted NIA probe into the Assam killings.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Union Minister of Tribal Affairsi Joel Oram, Minister of State for Home Affairsi Kiren Rijiju and Home Secretary Anil Goswami were also present.
