Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday underlined the need for police reforms and called for changing the perception about police in the minds of the common man.
Addressing the gathering on the valedictory function of the 33rd National Symposium of Police Training Heads at the Police Training Academy in Jaipur, Singh said, "I have commissioned brainstorming about police reforms and I exhort all of you to send ideas to Home Ministry website that will be incorporated."
The Home Minister stressed on efficiency and called upon the police personnel to uphold the sanctity of the uniform.
"Police should understand gravity of honour that their uniform holds. Police should improve their efficiency level and not indulge in any act that brings disgrace to their uniform. There is political leadership and hierarchy in place but we are a democracy and it should reflect at every stage. Officials should perform democratically and share their views with transparency and honesty," he said.
