Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan, will visit the birthplace of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia at Akbarpur, Faizabad on Sunday to pay tribute to the great leader for his contribution to freedom struggle.
Paswan will visit Lohia Bhawan at Akbarpur to pay tributes to Lohia and will participate in 'Aajadi 70' programme there.
He will also felicitate families of freedom fighters on the occasion.
With Independent Day celebrations having begun across the nation, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited the birth place of Birsa Munda at Ulihatu village in Khunti district of Jharkhand yesterday to remember the sacrifice of the freedom fighter.
This is being done under "Zara Yaad Karo Kurbani" programme of Union government to pay tribute to various freedom fighters all across the country.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar yesterday called upon the countrymen to visit National Memorial Cellular Jail Port Blair at least once in the life and pay homage to freedom fighters who sacrificed their life in this jail.

He was addressing the function held in cellular jail premises, organised under the Government's programme- '70 saal Azadi Zara Yaad Karo Kurbani'.
As part of the Centre's celebrations of 70 years of Independence, Union ministers will visit the birthplaces of forgotten heroes and sites of struggles that were part of the country's freedom movement.
