Raman Singh expresses grief over death of Kunwar Bai

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh has expressed grief over demise of Swachh Bharat mascot Kunwar Bai and said she will always be remembered for her good deeds.

Chattisgarh's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan mascot 106-year-old Kunwar Bai died on Friday morning after suffering from prolonged illness.

Raman Singh took to Twitter, and said, "My heart is deeply saddened on the demise of Kunwar Bai, who lit the lamp of cleanliness in Chhattisgarh and received honour of 'cleanliness messenger' from Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji. It is only the end of the body of mother Kunwar Bai, she will always be immortalised with her good deeds."

Resident of Kotabharri village in Dhamtari, Kunwar Bai was in national news as a mascot for Swachh Bharat campaign after she sold all her goats to construct toilet at her home. Not only was she applauded by Prime Minister Modi, the PM also touched her feet and felicitated her during a public meeting in Rajnandgaon in February 2016.

Kunwar Bai was being treated at Raipur's Ambedkar Hospital where she was admitted on the directives of Chief Minister Raman Singh.
