Blaming the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA Government for the recent scuffle in Delhi University's Ramjas College, the Congress Party on Wednesday said that the former and its backed youth party the ABVP is spreading lie in the name of nationalism.

"No charge sheet has been filed against the JNU students, who have been blamed for raising anti-national slogans in past one and half year. The ABVP and the BJP are scared that the lie they are spreading in the name of nationalism will be revealed," Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit told ANI.

Dixit further said that the BJP and its backed youth party the ABVP's sense of nationalism has nothing to do with the nation.

"The sense of nationalism they are trying to spread has nothing to do with nation," he added.

Echoing similar sentiment, another Congress leader Tom Vadakkan said that the ABVP has the right to have their own opinion on any issue, but cannot force it on others.

"Delhi University has been a very peaceful university. It has never seen anything like this for over a decade. Who should be blamed for this (scuffle)? It is the current dispensation and the youth wing," he said.

Congress' comment comes in the backdrop of the unrest prevailing in Delhi University, following disruption of an event themed 'Cultures of Protest,' at Ramjas College.

A 'Tiranga' march was organised by the ABVP on Monday, in order to invoke nationalist sentiments on the campus.

The students of Delhi University yesterday staged a protest against the ABVP at SGTB Khalsa College, in North Campus.

The said event was disrupted as it featured Umar Khalid, a student accused of anti-national sloganeering at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in Februar, last year.
