Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung on Friday met the representatives of those affected by the Rangpuri demolitions at the Raj Niwas here and assured them of providing immediate relief.
Jung said that all immediate aid shall be provided to them and the government will consider providing long-term solutions to their problems.
He also issued stern directions to the Chief Secretary (GNCTD) and concerned officials to provide immediate succor to those affected in the demolitions.
The Lt. Governor directed the Chief Secretary, Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) and concerned Deputy Commissioner to take all steps to ensure that those affected are provided immediate aid and assistance.
A representative from Jung's office visited the site last night to oversee the assistance being provided.
According to the reports submitted to the Lt. Governor, tents and blankets were being erected on site to provide shelter to those affected. So far, 70 families have been provided tents.

On site toilet facilities were being operationalized and drinking water and food packets were being made available on site.
The ambulances were sent yesterday to the site and a team of civil defence volunteers was on duty round the clock.
Taking a serious view of the demolitions, particularly in the wake of the impending winter, Jung stated that he would look into the matter once immediate succor is provided to the people.
