Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad paid surprise visits to the Gol Dak Khana and Lodi Road post offices in New Delhi ahead of the launch of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Swachh Bharat" mission.
Prasad undertook a tour of the entire post office, inspecting cupboards and observing various nooks and corners of the office.
"Personally checked cleanliness of files, desks and cupboards of post offices.Wasnt happy with cleanliness. During surprise visit to post offices, directed senior officers to ensure highest standards of cleanliness in office," he wrote on Twitter.
He even spoke to the employees and the customers present at the office, asking them if they were facing any problems.
Later, the Union Law Minister told reporters, "I have given clear instructions that cleanliness should be encouraged. This is a message for everyone in the country. A minister is opening cupboards and cleaning the dirt. I can visit any post office any time."
Earlier today, another Union Minister Jitendra Singh also took to wielding a broom as part of a cleanliness drive in South Block, following union ministers Uma Bharti, Smriti Irani and Ram Vilas Paswan, who have earlier done their bit to promote cleanliness.
