Rawat expresses satisfaction over rescue, relief operations in flood-affected Uttarakhand

Union Minister of Water Resources Harish Rawat has expressed his satisfaction over the rescue operation and relief works in the flood affected areas of Uttarakhand.

Rawat who is currently on tour to flashflood/landslide affected areas of Uttarakhand is in touch with local administration and is personally monitoring the rescue operation and relief works in the affected areas.

Speaking to media person here, Rawat said that the affected people as well as pilgrims are being evacuated to safe places and for the purpose services of helicopters are being utilised.

He also said that the Defence Minister has also directed the Army authorities to assist the local administration in rescue operation. NDRF, BSF and other central forces are helping the administration in rescue and relief works.

He has very categorically hailed the commendable work being done by NDRF.

Rawat further expressed hope that once the rain subsides and water recedes, the relief work will take momentum and the situation will return to normal.

It may be noted that there have been huge loss of lives and properties in Uttarakhand including Haridwar, the Parliamentary Constituency he represents. Roads and other infrastructure have been severely damaged due to intense rain, landslide and cloudbursts in many places.
