The United States Embassy in Dhaka in its updated security message has alerted the American citizens living in Bangladesh and stated that the terror threat against foreign nationals remains 'real and credible.'
According to the Daily Star, the message states that there is reliable information that terrorist attacks might occur against westerners, including on large gatherings of westerners at international hotels.
Despite stringent security steps taken by forces, the embassy has asked Americans to exercise caution, remain vigilant and be alerted to security development in the country.
The US personnel and their families are prohibited to visit most public places and are not permitted to travel by foot or by other uncovered means.
The foreign nationals have been urged to remain cautious since the killings of Italian citizen Cesare Tavella on September 28 and Japanese national Kunio Hoshi on October 3.
The ISIS had earlier claimed responsibility for both the killings, which had been dismissed by Bangladesh government.
