Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has criticised Manchester United over goalkeeper David de Gea's ill-fated summer transfer saga, saying that the Premier League club lacks experience in the transfer market.

The 24-year-old Spaniard's much-anticipated move to Real failed to materialize before Monday's deadline due to miscommunication between the Spanish club and United. As a result, the goalkeeper will have to stay at Old Trafford until January at least.

Although Perez maintained that they still have a good relationship with United, he said the incident shows the inexperience of the new people in charge.

He further said that they thought United would have learned from their past experiences, pointing to Old Trafford's failure to sign Fabio Coentrao and Ander Herrera on deadline day two years ago, the Guardian reported.

Perez claimed that the deal was agreed within half an hour but added that United then took eight hours to respond to contracts as the Spanish deadline had already been passed.
