Veteran American golfer Phil Mickelson has announced that he is ready to play in this week's Houston Open as he has recovered from a muscle strain, which cleared his way for the Masters.

The four-time Major winner, who withdrew from the Texas Open after pulling a muscle in his right side, did not play in the pro-am, fueling speculation that he might withdraw from the event and subsequently the Masters.

However, Stuff.co.nz reports that Mickelson, who won the Houston Open in 2011, said that he would play in the 6.4 million-dollar event after practicing for two 'light' days at Augusta National next week, where he is bidding to win another Green Jacket.

The golf ace's return to the Golf Club of Houston highlights a stellar field that features the winners of 34 major championships, the report added.
