Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Jitendra Singh, on Monday condemned PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat's sarcastic response to a group of women in distress that they should seek help from Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
"I don't think what the individuals say should make a difference particularly when you have a democratic government in the state and anything that happens whether it is in the form of giving jobs or appointments or in other processes, it has to follow a constitutional process and there is no place for any extra constitutional remedies as is being propagated," Singh told ANI here.
" The remedies, which tend to promote separatism are not only condemnable, but have no place in a democratic set up," he added.
Singh's remark came after a controversial video emerged showing Nizamuddin Bhat, who is the PDP's general secretary, telling the women, who were seeking help from the ruling party office bearer for rehabilitating them, that they should approach the Hurriyat chairman.
"Mirwaiz will be better... he will help you. Get some help first so that you can move around. The people here have lost compassion," he told a group of women earlier on Saturday.
