Reacting to the massive row generated by Member of Parliament Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's recent inappropriate comments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday requested the opposition to accept the former's apology and let the House function.

The Prime Minister said in the Rajya Sabha that he had already criticized such language at several meetings outside the House, and the opposition must now think of closure and accept Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's apology.

"I have strongly criticized such language. The Minister has apologized. Request Opposition to accept her apology and let the House function for the benefit of the nation," said Prime Minister Modi.

Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti had on Monday used abusive words to urge voters to choose between candidates, while addressing voters in west Delhi's Shyam Nagar.

Her choice of words had garnered strong criticism from various political parties and caused a huge uproar in the Parliament.

Jyoti later tendered an apology in the both the Houses of Parliament for her controversial remarks and said that she did not intend to hurt anybody by her statement.
