Revelations around the murder accused Shrien Dewani's sexuality has set the social media ablaze in South Africa while the hitman Mziwamadoda Qwabe's testimony takes the forefront in news headlines, says ROi Africa's managing director Tonya Khoury.

Khoury said that in the South African media, almost everything was about the murder trial of Shrien Dewani which began on Monday.

Statistics about media coverage for the first week of the trial were obtained by assessing almost 200 million international social networks, 60 000 online newspapers around the globe, thousands of printed publications from South Africa and other parts of Africa, as well as 40 South African radio and TV stations.

Twitter is one of the major social media platforms where people are discussing Dewani's sexuality and a blog called 'Gay News Headlines'.
