Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Sunday slammed the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Delhi for insulting senior bureaucrat Shakuntala Gamlin.
"I would like to condemn the unfortunate act of the intimidation and pressure and an act of character assassination being adopted by
Kejriwal and his government. The people of northeast are very much hurt by the unnecessary act of character assassination against an upright officer from northeast. Shakuntala Gamlin is known to be a good officer. If there is something against her, it should be officially brought and action must be taken," said Rijiju.
"Constitutionally, the role of Delhi Chief Minister and Lieutenant Governor is well defined. And Delhi Chief Minister should not behave like Chief Minister of a full-fledged state. Delhi is not a full-fledged state, Delhi is a Union Territory; Delhi is the capital of India," he added.
Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung have been involved in a public spat over the appointment of Gamlin as the acting chief secretary.
Kejriwal, who has accused Gamlin of being extremely close to power distribution companies and alleged that she was lobbying for their

interests, also reportedly sent her a letter asking not to take the post as her appointment was against the rules.
The Aam Aadmi Party has also accused the BJP of attempting a conspiracy through Jung to dethrone the Delhi Government.
