Rio Olympics: Trap shooters Manavjit Sandhu, Kynan Chenai fail to find rhythm on Day 1

Indian trap shooters Manavjit Singh Sandhu and Kynan Chenai made a diappointing start as they ended the Day One of the Rio Olympics qualification round at 17th and 19th place respectively here at the Olympic Shooting Centre on Sunday.

Sandhu, the two-time World Cup gold medalist, missed his target thrice as he shot 23, 23 and 22 in his first three rounds to finish the opening day with a total score of 68.

Meanwhile,Chenai, the other Indian in fray,shot 22, 23 and 22 in three rounds to end with a score of 67.

Italy's Fabbrizi Massimo took the top spot after finishing the first three rounds of 25 each while Ling Edward of Great Britain is placed at second spot with a total score of 73.

Both Indian shooters will now have to push their performance further when the action will resume on Monday, the second day of the event.
