The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Thursday expelled party MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav for six years.
"We have expelled Pappu Yadav because there is a discipline to be maintained in the party. There is to be loyalty towards the leadership. His activities have been against the party," said party leader, Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav.
"Pappu Yadav should now contest independently and see how he fares," he added.
Yadav, who had backed former RJD leader Jitan Ram Manjhi as the Chief Minister of Bihar, had been issued a show cause notice a few days ago by the party.
