The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Janata Dal (United) are practicing 'politics of distrust', adding that the sole aim of the Janata Parivar is to stop Prime Minister Narendra Modi from taking Bihar forward on the development path.

"The entire nation is seeing the politics of distrust being practiced by these people. When these people do not trust each other then how will the people of Bihar trust them? Their only purpose is to stop the march of Prime Minister Modi, our purpose is to take Bihar forward," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI.

"Everyone knows that the first disqualified member of the Parliament, Lalu Prasad Yadav, is part of Janata Parivar, then there is Nitish kumar, Mulayam Singh Yadav and now Sonia ji and Rahul ji are joining them. People of Bihar know whether to vote for such people or for Bihar's development under Modi ji," he added.

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had earlier confirmed that Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar would be the Janata Parivar's chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls.

The Bihar Chief Minister had yesterday met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi at the latter's residence in the national capital.

On April 15, six political parties-including the Janata Dal (United), Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Samajwadi Party-had announced a merger to revive the united Janata Party. Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav was named the president of the merged entity.
