The Rashtriya Janata Dal on Sunday urged the Prime Minister's Office to intervene and ensure that a time bound investigation takes place into the steadily increasing number of deaths associated with the Vyapam scam.

"As a citizen, I am scared because I am seeing for the first time a scam, where anybody who is involved in any way is dying. The Madhya Pradesh government does not have any space to remain silent. I think the PMO should intervene and must make sure that there is a separate, time bound investigation to look into these deaths," RJD leader Manoj Jha said.

Akshay Singh, a journalist with the TV Today Group, died suddenly yesterday when he had gone to take an interview of the family of a slain Vyapam scam accused in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh.

Reports say that Singh felt chest pain while he was taking the interview. He was taken to the Meghnagar hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Singh's post mortem report is still awaited.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured that he will hand over the investigation of Singh's death to the SIT.
