Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has reportedly signed a new long-term contract with the Anfield club, which finished as Premier League runner-up this season under his charge.

Rodgers, who was appointed as Kenny Dalglish's successor in 2012, has also led the club- which has won 26 matches, lost six and scored 101 goals in the Premier League- back into the Champions League following a four-year absence

According to the BBC, the former Swansea City boss, who was named the League Managers' Association manager of the year, was hailed by principal owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner, who, in a joint statement, said the Anfield club is 'very fortunate' to have Rodgers at the helm.

The American businessmen said that they have placed their trust in Rodgers to deliver the vision they share for Liverpool, adding that the manager is at the heart of what, they, as on ownership group, are trying to achieve on the pitch.

Henry completed his 300 million-pound takeover of Liverpool from fellow American Tom Hicks and US hedge fund Mill Financial in October 2010, the report added.
