Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has continued his football rivalry with Barcelona's Lionel Messi after refusing to reveal his thoughts on the Argentina star's World Cup Golden Ball award because of fears of being put behind bars.
Messi was awarded the accolade following his nation's World Cup final loss to Germany in Brazil earlier this summer despite many believing that other players, such as Manuel Neuer or James Rodriguez, should have won the prize instead.
And Ronaldo, who bagged UEFA's European Player of the Year award on Thursday, has now entered into the debate about if Messi was a deserving winner in Brazil, Metro.co.uk reported.
Ronaldo said that if he says everything that he thinks, he would be in prison. He added that everyone can see and make their own judgments, as the people in the world of football are intelligent.
The Portugal football team captain also said that it would be a very interesting question for Messi, adding that he cannot be honest about it.
Ronaldo further added that each one does his job, delivers his best and both want to be the best. The Real star said that for himself, in his mind, he is the best.
