New Zealand wicketkeeper batsman Luke Ronchi's unbeaten 170 and fast bowler Trent Boult's four-wicket haul guided the hosts to a 108-run win over Sri Lanka in the fifth ODI of the seven-match series at the University Oval in Dunedin.

Ronchi knocked a brilliant 170 off just 99 deliveries, including 14 fours and nine sixes to guide New Zealand to 360-5 in their allotted 50 overs.

After New Zealand went in to bat their openers failed to provide a solid partnership with Martin Guptill going for a duck and Brendon McCullum scoring 25 runs before he was trapped lbw by fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara.

Skipper Kane Williamson also failed to play a big innings as he was caught behind the wicket by Kumar Sangakkara for his individual score of 26 off Thisara Perera's express delivery.

Ross Taylor (20) and Corey Anderson (eight) also failed to provide any stability to New Zealand's batting lineup.

However, all-rounder Grant Elliott combined with Ronchi to give New Zealand a solid unbeaten sixth-wicket partnership of 267 runs, as he too knocked an unbeaten ton off 96 deliveries.

Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan's splendid 116 runs knock didn't help the tourists to beat New Zealand and level the series at 2-2, as the rest of the batting line-up collapsed by the 44th over.

Dilshan hit 116 off 106 balls, including 17 fours and one six. Opener and skipper Lahiru Thirimanne fell five runs short of his half-century as he was caught by Taylor for his individual 45 off Elliott's delivery.

Boult was on fire as he delivered impressive match figures of 4-44, claiming the wickets of former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene (30), Kulasekara (three), all-rounder Jeevan Mendis (18) and Perera for a duck.

Apart from Perera, Dinesh Chandimal and Suranga Lakmal were the others to go for a duck.

New Zealand currently lead Sri Lanka in the seven-match series by 3-1, with one match having ended in a draw due to heavy rain.
