Wayne Rooney scored his 50th international goal to become England's all-time leading goal scorer in the Euro 2016 qualifier with a 2-0 home win over Switzerland.
The 29-year-old Manchester United striker surpassed Bobby Charlton's 45-year-old record of 49 goals with a penalty strike in the 84th minute, causing fans to give Rooney a standing ovation.
Harry Kane, who came in as a substitute, broke the stalemate in the 67th minute.
Reflecting on his milestone, Rooney said that it was a great feeling and a dream come true, adding that he was extremely proud of setting a new England record, Sport24 reported.
With the win, England stay on course to top Group E with a perfect record ahead of October's final two qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania.
