Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has reportedly called on Israel to admit it has nuclear bombs and join the Non-Proliferation Treaty that is aimed at containing the spread of nuclear weapons.

Rouhani spoke at a UN nuclear disarmament conference and said that he believed a deal could be struck with the international community on Iran's controversial nuclear drive within three to six months.

According to News24, Israel has never declared a nuclear arsenal, but is widely assumed to have several bombs.

Rouhani stressed that only Israel is non-party to the Non-Proliferation Treaty in the Middle East region and should join thereto without any further delay adding that all nuclear activities in the region would then be subject to International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards.

The moderate leader further said that no nation should possess nuclear weapons as there are no right hands for these wrong weapons adding that as long as such weapons exist, the risk of their use and proliferation persist, and total elimination of the weapons is the only absolute guarantee, the report added.
