Iranian President Hassan Rouhani needs to back up his 'warm words' to US President Barack Obama with 'real action' over his country's nuclear programme, a pro-Israeli pressure group has claimed.

Rouhani had held a 15 minute telephone conversation with Obama, the first such dialogue between the two countries since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, in New York during the UN General Assembly meet.

The possible softening of relations between the two countries could lead Iran to abandoning its nuclear weapon developments.

The move might see economic sanctions imposed on the Middle East country lifted, the Daily Express reports.

According to the report, the chief executive of the Britain Israel Communications and Research Centre (BICOM), Dermot Kehoe, said he wants to see more from the Iranian regime than just dialogue.

He welcomed any progress in applying diplomatic pressure on Iran over its nuclear programme.

He however said that warm words from Rouhani must be matched by real actions on the ground, and there is precious little sign of that from Iran at present, the report added.
