Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Kamaal Farooqi on Friday charged the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of adopting the Israeli trend, and not tolerating anything that goes against it.
"The RSS does not tolerate anything which goes against it. As per the Israeli trend, they first of all try to control the media and if they are not successful in that they begin threatening them," he said, while asserting that the article written is factual and has a journalistic view.
Carrying forward the war of words over India's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabbhai Patel's legacy, the Congress Party yesterday lashed out at the opposition, and claimed that the RSS has threatened a senior woman journalist over critical articles.
AICC General Secretary and Communications Department in-charge Ajay Maken, while reacting to BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's remark of India needs Sardar Patel's secularism and not vote-bank secularism, said that the media will lose its freedom of expression if the opposition comes in power.
Maken even informed that the journalist had filed a complaint, claiming that she has been receiving threatening calls from the RSS.
