The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) held a meeting in on Friday to chalk out a plan to expand its activities across the country ahead of the parliamentary elections.
The Joint Secretary of RSS, Dattatreya Hosbole said that the sole purpose of the meeting is to evaluate their work, programmes and performance in social domains.
"The annual general meeting reviews the past one year's, Sangh's (RSS) growth activity and the impact of the RSS and the national life and also consider the present national situation that is in the Sangh's activities for the next year, mainly the directions of the Sangh work will be decided here," he said.
Hosbole added that the meeting of RSS, Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) ideological mentor, will also discuss policy formulation and decision-making. Over 1,000 RSS members are expected to attend the three-day meeting starting from March 07.

"2500 shakhas (divisions) are increasing in the last three years. We have taken a decision to have three phases of our expansion of the Sangh work, up to 2015, 2018 and 2025. Now in the first phase two-third of the period is over with this meeting. By 2015 i.e. next year annual general meeting, we think that we will be able to increase 10 percent to 12 percent work more and we are already working on it," said Hosbole.
When asked about the role of Aam Aadmi Party in the upcoming general elections, RSS Joint Secretary said parties of such nature come and go, but people will decide who is capable of addressing their concerns.

"Many parties have come like this and many parties have vanished after some time. So if one more party comes we do not have any problem. But how much experience do they have? What goals do they have in mind? And in 49 days, how they ran the Delhi government, this also people have seen. Through the media only they have seen. People of India have the wisdom; they will definitely take the right decision. Such parties will come into the democracy but given today's condition of India, which party will be able to address it? Let the people decide that," he added.
During his speech, Hosbole also said that in the name of minorities, the ruling government has tried to divide the society like it was seen during the communal violence bill; through Sachar Committee (commissioned in 2005 to prepare a report on social, economic and educational condition of India's Muslim community) also they are trying to do the same and their decisions in the recent cabinet meet, to establish equal opportunity commission, also represents a deceptive equality.
On being asked about the promotion of Narendra Modi as BJP's prime ministerial candidate, Hosbole said that the decision to name a candidate is taken by the party and RSS has never encouraged anything of this sort. However, they have been supportive as Modi has participated in their activities.
