Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Friday welcomed the passing of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha, adding that he hopes that the Lok Sabha would do the same.
"We have seen the mines bill, which has been with the amendments of the government has come to the Lok Sabha and I hope after the discussion, the Lok Sabha will pass it," Rudy told the media.
Rudy also asserted that the legislative business has been reasonably good in this session.
Earlier in the day, the Rajya Sabha passed the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill.
According to reports, 117 people voted in favour of the bill while 69 opposed it.
The bill would now be sent to the Lok Sabha for consideration.
