A rugby fan, James Collette, proposed to his girlfriend, Lucy Sargison, during day one of the Rugby Sevens tournament in front of thousands of spectators.
Collette, an IT worker, had planned the proposal weeks in advance. He took Sargison's father permission and also contacted Glasgow 2014 games chiefs beforehand, the Daily Express reported.
Halfway through the event, organizers called the couple, on to the field, under the pretence that they had been randomly selected from the audience to take part in a Commonwealth quiz, where he popped the question and presented the specially made ring to her.
Sargison, who serves in the Army, said that she was completely but it was just amazing, so she said yes straight away.
