Russell Brand reportedly wants to succeed Tory Boris Johnson as Mayor of London in 2016.

According to sources, the comedian could stand for Mayor on 'anti-politics' ticket and has even told his close friends that he would take Johnson's job, the Independent reported.

Brand's new book, 'Revolution', includes some clues as to his platform, should he decide to be a candidate and he has also admitted that that he "can't get his head around economics", while declaring declares his support for "collectives".

Brand has also revealed that he wants to ban fracking and the monarchy and had also said he was "open-minded" about the idea that the US government was behind the 9/11 attacks as he made a second appearance on BBC2's flagship Newsnight progamme.
