Russell Brand has been given the Plain English Campaign's Foot In Mouth award for making least sense of all in Britain.

A Campaign spokesman said that the 39-year-old English comedian was out on his own in the 2014 Foot In Mouth stakes and while they admire his determination to open up a debate about democracy and the dire state of the world, they struggle to make sense of his comments.

The spokesman added that they wonder if that might be due to him being more worried about self promotion than making sense.

According to Brand, capitalism obfuscates truth and added that he thinks an economic ideology is oppositional to the spiritual ideologies that are what people need to adopt if we're to save our planet and humankind.

Brand, whose book Revolution was slammed by critics earlier this year, has also blasted George Osborne by saying that shaking the Chancellor's hand was like sliding his hand into a dilated cow.

He said that the political system only "furthered the advantages of economic elites" despite him being worth 15million pounds.
