South Africa cricket team coach Russell Domingo has branded Pakistan as 'predictably unpredictable', claiming that their unpredictability would be the challenge to beat them in their Cricket World Cup Group B tie at Eden Park on Saturday.
Both teams have played four matches in the tournament so far, and a win for either side would be invaluable as the race towards the quarterfinals heats up.
Domingo said that Pakistan's unpredictability is not a challenge because they are predictably unpredictable, adding that South Africa knows that Misbah-ul Haq's men can beat anybody on their day so that is great for the Proteas, Sport24 reported.
Domingo said that his team needs to prepare really well and to make sure that they respect the opposition. He added that they need to go through their processes over the next couple of days because Pakistan's strength lies in the predictability of their unpredictability.
Domingo says the only way to curb Pakistan is by sticking to the team's tried and tested strategy of sticking to their processes and focusing on their strengths, adding that it's really about playing a solid game of cricket.
The coach said that it's about focusing on ones strategies and game plans, and not getting lulled into what the opposition is doing or what they can bring to the match. He insisted that it's important to focus hard on the strengths of ones team, which is something that South Africa would need to do well against Pakistan.
The South Africans have had comfortable wins against the West Indies and Ireland in their last two matches, but still feel the pressure and importance of every match to come.
Domingo said that Pakistan is a big game, and added that South Africa would be tested on Saturday, insisting that they have come off two good wins, they have some match-winners in their side and they beat them in South Africa just over a year ago.
