United States President Barack Obama has said that Russia will remain in isolation in the international community if its President Vladimir Putin continues to violate international law in Ukraine by providing support to separatist rebels.

"You don't invade other countries or finance proxies and support them in ways that break up a country that has mechanisms for democratic elections," President Obama told the media, while attending the G-20 Summit here. He also described his meeting with the Russian President as 'blunt and business-like'.

"At this point the sanctions we have in place are biting plenty good. We retain the capability, and we have our teams constantly looking at mechanisms in which to turn up additional pressure as necessary," he added.

President Putin has come under intense pressure from other leaders at the G-20 Summit over Moscow's backing pro-Russian rebels in Ukraine, a conflict which has resulted in the deaths of more than 4,000 people this year.
