Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry O Rogozin met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Wednesday, and reportedly discussed a range of bilateral and international issues of mutual interest to the two countries.
Both leaders reportedly discussed issues relating to economic cooperation, energy security and the long-pending deal for the third and fourth reactors of the Kudankulam power plant.
Wednesday's meeting was the first high-level visit from Russia after Narendra Modi assumed office as Prime Minister on May 26.
Rogozin arrived in New Delhi this morning on a two-day visit. He will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.
India and Russia are also likely to initiate preparations for the annual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladmir Putin scheduled for later in the year, reports said.
