Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, flagged off a marathon here on Sunday, hosted by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as part of 75th raising day celebrations.
The half marathon was flagged off from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and hundreds of participants took part in the event.
Besides Tendulkar, Olympic wrestlers Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, boxer Vijender Singh, Bollywood actor Nana Patekar and other luminaries from film industry and sports arena attended the event to boost the morale of participants.
The organisers dedicated the event in the memory of CRPF personnel who sacrificed their lives.
"I am really fortunate that my police brothers remember me for such events. I am always with families of police personnel who have sacrificed their lives. If anybody calls me, personally I'm saying, I will do anything for them as per my capabilities," said Bollywood actor Nana Patekar.
The winners of the half-marathon in both men and women's category will get Rs 3 lakhs each, while those finishing second and third will receive Rs 2 lakh and one lakh respectively.
