Pakistan's out-of-favour off-spinner Saeed Ajmal on Tuesday has quashed rumours of his retirement, insisting that he is confident of making a strong comeback into the national side with his remodelled bowling action.

According to reports, the 37-year-old had been considering retirement after being sidelined for the recently concluded series against Sri Lanka.

Clarifying his stance, Ajmal ruled out retiring from the international cricket and said that he was a fighter and would fight to regain his spot, the Dawn reported.

The spin maestro was banned by the International Cricket Council for an illegal bowling action in August 2014, which led to his ouster from the national squad for the World Cup.

Ajmal, who has claimed 178 Test and 184 ODI wickets, has been struggling with his remodelled bowling action and failed to cement his spot in the team since returning from suspension in February.
