Konkani writer and a recent recipient of Sahitya Akademi award Dr. Madhavi Sardesai passed away on Tuesday morning.
A well-known critic and linguist, Sardesai had received the award for her book 'Manthan', an anthology , of critical essays written in the Konkani language.
Sardesai, 52, had been ailing for some time. The niece of Gyanpeeth Awardee Konkani writer Ravindra Kelekar, Sardesai had also received Sahitya Akademi Award for translation of her book ''Eka Vicharachi Jivit Katha' on Gandhi's life.
She also edited 'Jaag' a Konkani monthly. Dr. Sardesai was also a professor in the Konkani Department of Goa University.
The last rites will be held at Margao on Tuesday morning.
