With a house-full opening on the first day, Salman Khan starrer 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' has broken 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan's' record and has become the highest first day grosser of the year.
The Sooraj Barjatya's family drama has grossed a sum of 40.3 crores and has surpassed the Rs. 27.25 crore collection of the Kabir Khan directorial.
Talking about its box-office collection, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#PremRatanDhanPayo has a MIND-BOGGLING start. Salman + Sooraj Barjatya + Diwali results in MAGICAL figures at the BO. #PremRatanDhanPayo collects Rs 40.35 cr on Day 1. Hindi version only. Tamil and Telugu biz being compiled. OUTSTANDING START!"
However, the flick that also stars Sonam kapoor was unable to break the first day records of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, 'Happy New Year.
