The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Wednesday ruled out any pre-poll alliance ahead of the 2014 general elections, and added that it will contest independently in several states of the country.

Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav said that his party is determined to expand its base in several states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Bihar.

"The party will contest elections on its own. There will be no pre-poll alliance with any party. The party will contest elections in Uttarakhand and we have already declared four seats out of total of five. We will contest elections in Karnataka, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and several other states as well," he told media here today.

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had earlier on Tuesday claimed that a Third Front will get majority in the 2014 general elections.

"There is every possibility of formation of the Third Front after the election results are announced," he said.

Yadav further said that the Samajwadi Party would contest the 2014 elections in Mamata Banerjee-ruled West Bengal also.
