West Indies's skipper Darren Sammy has backed his side to perform well in the upcoming T20 World Cup to be played in India, saying that they can claim this year's trophy if they perform collectively.

Labelling West Indies as a 'competitive' side, Sammy said that he was confident of winning this year as his squad consists of match -winners with high caliber, PakPassion.net reported.

The 32-year-old, however, expressed his disappointment over his exclusion from the central contract of West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).He insisted that he had never received the contract despite performing on a regular basis.

Sammy, who is also looking forward to play in the Pakistan Super League for Peshawar, believes that if the tournament was organized properly, then there was a high chance for it to become a big name in franchise cricket.

Sammy, who earlier lead his side to World Twenty20 glory in 2012, made 38 Test appearances scoring 1323 runs and played in 126 ODIs. He also bagged 84 Tests wickets and 81 ODI wickets.

Sammy will again captain his 15-man West Indies squad when they play in the World Twenty20 tournament in India, which starts on March 8.
