Former world number one Pete Sampras has backed Roger Federer to claim his 18th Grand Slam title at the US Open, which starts from August 31.
The Swiss maestro, who won his last Grand Slam title at 2012 Wimbledon, will be aiming to end his three-year drought at the US Open.
Sampras insisted that the 34-year-old is still playing well; working hard and doing all the right things he has been doing for years, Sport24 reported.
Sampras, the 14-time Grand Slam champion, also felt that the next few weeks would be more difficult for the Swiss international as he has to play with some of the top players.
Federer will now play in the US Open-tune up event at the Western and Southern Open starting from August 15 in Mason.
