Samsung's senior VP for product strategy reportedly revealed that the company is set to introduce a new Android smartwatch as well as a 'high end' Tizen smartphone this year.
Following the Korean company's first attempt at putting together an advanced smartwatch based on Android, the Galaxy Gear, going downhill last year, Samsung reportedly switched to their own Tizen software for the Gear2 and Gear2 Neo.
According to The Verge, Samsung has confirmed that it will release its new smartwatch in 2014 and also clarified that the watch would indeed use Android Wear.
Samsung will reportedly soon be supporting three different operating systems for its wearable devices including the Gear Fit, which runs its own custom software.
Samsung's original plan to deliver a high-end phone built around its Tizen OS reportedly did not pan out due to poor market conditions, which was the same almost exactly a year ago.
The company has reportedly changed its strategy now and intends to narrow down the focus to a few countries where they can do well.
Samsung has revealed that they are expecting to launch its high-end Tizen handset by the end of June and the Android Wear smartwatch later this year, the report added.
