Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam has sent a legal notice to former Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vinod Rai over his allegation that he had pressurized him not to name former prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in the 2G spectrum scam.
Nirupam had earlier on Thursday rubbished Rai's allegations and had threatened to drag him to the court for defamation.
The former CAG has dropped a bombshell by claiming that senior functionaries from the UPA government had applied pressure on him to drop certain names from the auditor's reports on Coalgate and Commonwealth Games scam.
According to reports, Vinod Rai 's book which would be out on September 15 will provide details of how Dr. Singh had succumbed to pressure to keep his coalition government floating.
