Former Pak Test cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz has said that it is the right time for the PCB selectors to start building a formidable squad for the 2015 Cricket World Cup, comprising of youngsters.
According to The Nation, Nawaz expressed that if a new captain was not groomed right now, then it would be difficult to get a new one in the future.
Sarfraz gave the example of the Indian cricket board resting captain MS Dhoni in their series against Zimbabwe and picking a squad comprising of new faces led by Virat Kohli, the report said.
Nawaz also said that bringing Younus Khan, Faisal Iqbal and Imran Farhat in the Test squad was not a good decision and picking, dropping and picking players was not going to work.
The former player said that the PCB should show confidence in the youngsters and the decision to drop Taufeeq Umar from the Test squad was surprising for him
Pakistan will play two Twenty20, three ODI and two Test matches against Zimbabwe starting with a T20 from August 23, the report added.
