Manal al-Sharif, who defied the ban on women drivers in Saudi Arabia,' has said that nothing 'pisses off' Saudi men or religious people more like a woman behind a driving wheel.

Al-Sharif, who is a columnist, blogger and women's rights advocate, reportedly defied the ban on women drivers in Saudi Arabia with a YouTube video of herself driving and this in turn sparked a movement for women's right to drive campaign in 2011.

According to Gulf News, al-Sharif said that she had no clue what would happen when the video went viral that day on YouTube as a part of a movement named Women2Drive and she had to go to jail for that for nine days.

The Saudi Arabian woman has also been called the 'Rosa Parks' of her country.

Al-sharif has reportedly been honoured in Beverly Hills, California at a Women In the World Luncheon hosted by former Daily Beast editor Tina Brown, who started the annual event in 2010, which aims at 'telling unknown stories of the women who live behind the lines of the news'.
