Saudi Arabia has said the kingdom's laws will be fully enforced on the day of women driving campaign called to defy the long-standing driving ban on women in the country.

The Interior Ministry said that the kingdom laws strictly prohibit activities disturbing the public peace and leading to agitation, CNN reports.

The statement came after there were rumors over social networks and some media outlets calling for congregations and marches in open against the driving ban, the report added.

This is the first official reaction to a campaign calling on Saudi women to defy the country's de facto driving ban on Saturday.

Recently, a Saudi cleric became a subject of criticism when he claimed that women who drive tend to risk their reproductive health as driving hurts their ovaries.
