Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Saud al Faisal has clarified that his visit to Pakistan was not linked to any diplomatic deal for a safe exit for former President General Pervez Musharraf from the country.
Al Faisal spoke about his country's principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, at a joint news conference with Prime Minister's Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad, the Express Tribune reports.
His visit had earlier triggered a speculation that Riyadh was making efforts to secure safe passage for the former military ruler, who is facing a treason trial for abrogating the constitution by imposing emergency rule in November 2007.
However, Al Faisal cleared the air of doubt by saying that he was in Pakistan to deliver a message of 'friendship and cooperation' from King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
