Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz and crown prince Mohammed bin Salman called deceased journalist Jamal Khashoggi's son to extend their condolences on Monday.
Salah Khashoggi, the late scribe's son, "expressed his sincere thanks" to the Saudi royalty for their thought, according to CNN who quoted Saudi state media.
The son is a resident of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and has been unable to travel outside the country as his passport has been invalidated.
Meanwhile, Khashoggi's ex-wife and daughter live in Dubai, while his fiancee, Hatice Cengiz has been placed under 24-hour police protection by Turkish authorities.
Jamal Khashoggi, who has now been confirmed dead by Saudi Arabia's Attorney General, had been missing ever since he stepped inside the Saudi consulate on October 2 in Istanbul, Turkey.
