The Supreme Court collegium on Friday unanimously reiterated the recommendation for elevation of Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice K.M. Joseph to the apex court.

This comes after the central government rejected the collegium's recommendation for the elevation of Justice KM Joseph to the Supreme Court earlier this year.

The government drew flak when Justice Joseph's name was recommended by the collegium in January.

Meanwhile, the collegium also recommended names of Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Vineet Saran and Madras High Court Chief Justice Indira Banerjee to the top court.

The collegium has suggested the name of Justice VK Tahilramani, senior most judge of Bombay High Court, to take Justice Banerjee's position.

It was further recommended to appoint acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Justice Gita Mittal, as the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

Justice MR Shah, who is the senior most judge of Gujarat High Court, has also been recommended to be appointed as the Chief Justice of Patna High Court.
